Aims

The Care Act 2014 has had a significant impact upon the way local authorities assess care needs and arrange services for individuals ‘in need of care and support’ and their carers. This practice-based course, aimed at social care/health care staff and their managers, reviews the main requirements of the Care Act and, through examples and discussion, examines how local authorities are now expected to carry out their social care role.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the course participants will:

• be aware of the main requirements of the Care Act and Regulations, and have an overview of the key features of the Statutory Guidance;
