Simon Godefroy is the Programme Director of the London Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) Programme for Bournemouth University. Having started out as a Probation Officer and substance misuse social worker, Simon qualified as an Approved Social Worker in 2000, and is currently a practicing freelance AMHP and Best Interests Assessor. Until August 2012 he was employed by a local authority as the AMHP and Forensic Lead. Simon is a Mental Health Act Commissioner. He is also an independent trainer specialising in various aspects of forensic mental health as well as AMHP and BIA supervision. He publishes a monthly digest on social work, mental health and related law on Twitter.
